Junilox

Born and raised in Los Angeles CA., Juni Brown, AKA Junilox grew up in a musical family (four brothers and two sisters) and has always had a passion for music of all genres.

Junilox father Freddy Brown Sr. (stage name: Fredlocks) and mother Verna Brown are Ex Patriots of Belize who brought with them a real passion for Reggae and Carribean music, complete with connections and a cultural sensitivity that would truly influence Junilox and his siblings. As well as his parents, Junilox found inspiration within his own family in such great, and internationally renowned acts as El Jai and Trevor English.

From the 70's through to the 90's  "Fredlocks and The Dutch Touch" (along side such acts as Donald "Pickland" ) were known as the toughest reggae DJ's in LA. The held rank along side such other great reggae Mixmasters as DJ Paget, DJ Skins and DJ Special.  These artists were a huge inspiration to Junilox and his brothers. By the late 90's Fredlocks formed a stellar new reggae band called "The Dominators" who became a major first call band backing up many famous and upcoming Caribbean artists at the time. A hard working band, they played every weekend at prestigious clubs like the now infamous Plum Tree on Western Ave. in South LA. supporting the local reggae scene and introducing new generations to these forms of music in a way that has changed some people's lives forever. The power of this music is undeniable, and The Dominators were at the forefront.

As teenagers Junilocks, his brothers and sisters would sound check the instruments on stage: The baby brother PJ on drums, Edred Brown on keys, Paris on percussion instruments, while Charlie worked the mixing board and was the heartbeat of the sound strumming on the bass, and with his creative flair and incredible sense of timing and charisma, Junilox laid down the vocals with smooth style, warming up the crowd as The Little Dominators. These early experiences started Juni and his brother Charlie down a path of recording, engineering and song writing with a tendency to come off on the positive side on things in life. As Junlox says: " This is what I want to express in music. I would love to please my fans by offering the best rhythms, lyrics and positive messages in my music."
